Current Productions

It's official!  Shirley Thompson Editorial has relocated to Honolulu, HI.   My email and cell phone number will remain the same and I'm still just a couple of time zones and a short plane ride away from California. I've traded my home on an island in the middle of Texas for a home on an island in the middle of the sea. Seeking new projects with good people!

I am very excited about a new documentary project that I am producing with Stanford Chang and Evolution Media in Honolulu on traditional Hawaiian healing.  The film is in the research and development stage...I'll blog about it some when there's more details to share.

Late summer I will be hard at work cutting promos and trailers for the 2010 - 2011 season of INDEPENDENT LENS.  I'll be posting new promos and trailers this season on my You Tube Channel, including the new season sneak preview.

Screenings & Awards!

EATING ALASKA will air on PBS in Fall 2010. I will post airdates here as soon as they are available.   Many of you know, this is a long-time labor of love film on which I was co-producer & story consultant with filmmaker Ellen Frankenstein. It's a PBS documentary about adventures in eating on the Alaskan frontier, searching for a meal that makes sense politically, socially, spiritually and tastefully.  See the trailer!  More screenings on our FACEBOOK page.

PIDGIN: THE VOICE OF HAWAI‘I screened at the Honolulu Film Festival and won a Grand Jury Award and an award for Best Human Rights Film.
